What is post-operative rehabilitation?

Post-operative rehabilitation — often called post-surgical rehab — is a structured physical therapy program that begins after a surgical procedure. Its purpose is to help the body heal properly, regain lost function, and prevent complications such as excessive scar tissue, joint stiffness, and muscle loss.

Movement problems are common after surgery, particularly following a joint repair or reconstruction. A well-designed rehab program restores those movement patterns gradually and safely, in step with your body’s natural healing timeline.
